Funding Strategy

Adequate, high-quality funding is the bedrock of the RASIT Science in Braille Global Initiative, enabling our integrated development system to deliver socio-economic sustainability programmes with consistency and impact. While our core operations are sustained by privately derived resources, we continually seek to broaden our funding base to match the growing demand for accessible science solutions worldwide.

To complement our private revenue streams, RASIT mobilizes voluntary contributions from UN Member States, multilateral organizations, the private sector, and philanthropic partners. We balance unrestricted regular resources—which underwrite essential overheads and strategic priorities—with earmarked funding dedicated to specific themes, programmes, or projects in accessible science, education, health, and livelihoods.

Our funding strategy prioritizes flexibility and responsiveness, allowing RASIT to orchestrate multi-sectoral collaborations, deploy rapid interventions in emerging areas of need, and foster thought leadership, innovation, and rigorous quality assurance across all initiatives. This adaptive approach ensures that resources are aligned with evolving development challenges and opportunities.

Science in Braille Global Initiative Fund

In 2025, RASIT’s Board of Trustees and Executive Board established the Science in Braille Global Initiative Fund to channel investments into equal-opportunity programmes for people with disabilities—spanning education, employment, capacity building, and beyond.

Supported by donations, grants, gifts, service income, and voluntary contributions from countries, corporations, and philanthropists, the Fund is overseen by HRH Prince Adnan El-Hashemite, RASIT’s Dean and Treasurer, who ensures transparent governance and strategic allocation of resources.

RASIT & Crowdfunding

To enhance grassroots ownership and impact, the RASIT Executive Board has adopted crowdfunding as a strategic funding mechanism for the Science in Braille Global Initiative. This approach empowers individuals with disabilities to design projects that directly serve their communities.

With RASIT’s long-standing commitment to transparency, and track record for accountability and aid effectiveness, giving through RASIT represents one of the clearest paths to making a difference at the local level that RASIT serves.
