The RASIT Science in Braille Global Initiative is dedicated to publishing peer-oriented, practice-focused reports that promote disability-inclusive approaches to socio-economic sustainable development. These reports highlight evidence-based findings, policy analyses, program evaluations, and technical innovations aimed at making science education, research, and employment more accessible to individuals of all abilities. Submissions are welcome from a diverse set of contributors, including professionals, researchers, practitioners, disability-led organizations, civil society members, students, and youth advocates. Importantly, submissions are accepted regardless of the author's disability status or background. To ensure the quality and relevance of published work, submissions must align with the Initiative's objectives and RASIT policies. Reports should demonstrate clear relevance to socio-economic sustainable development and accessibility in science, presenting evidence-based findings, practical recommendations, or innovative solutions. Additionally, contributors must provide accessible file formats and an inclusive presentation of data and media.
Required components for submission include a title, authors and affiliations, an executive summary, the full report, and any supplementary materials such as datasets, figures, accessible slide decks, and audio descriptions or sonification files when applicable. An accessibility checklist must also be submitted, confirming the provision of at least two accessible formats, which may include tagged PDFs, accessible Word documents, and/or machine-readable data. The review and publication process begins with an initial screening to assess relevance and compliance with accessibility standards. This is followed by an editorial review that focuses on methodological rigor, practical applicability, and policy relevance. Selected submissions may undergo editing for clarity and accessibility prior to publication, although authors will retain full attribution for their work. Publication formats include accessible web pages, downloadable accessible PDFs, and inclusion in RASIT dissemination channels.
To submit, contributors should prepare their materials in accessible formats and include the required metadata. Submissions can be made via the RASIT publications portal or by emailing the Publications team at scienceinbraille@rasit.org with "Science in Braille Report Submission" in the subject line. Contributors are encouraged to request editorial or accessibility support during the submission preparation process to enhance the quality and accessibility of their work.
